Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about NEB GPA calculation, grading systems, and exam results.

GPA is calculated using the formula: GPA = Sum(Grade Point × Credit Hours) / Sum(Credit Hours). Each subject has a grade point value (4.0 for A, 3.6 for A-, etc.) multiplied by its credit hours. The sum of all products is divided by the total credit hours. Our GPA calculator automates this for all NEB streams including SEE (Class 10), Class 11, and Class 12.

Read our step-by-step NEB GPA Calculation Guide with worked examples and downloadable tables — click to open the full guide.
We include two full worked examples in our blog: an SEE 8-subject walkthrough and a Class 11 Science example. See the examples: NEB GPA Calculation Guide.

The minimum passing grade in NEB is D (1.6 GPA), which corresponds to 35-39% marks. Students must score at least 35% in theory exams to pass. Scoring below 35% results in NG (Not Graded) status, meaning the subject must be retaken or covered through supplementary exams.

No. Because 26 is just slightly under 26.25, the NEB typically rounds up fractional grading, meaning 26 marks often sneaks by as the absolute edge of a passing D Grade. Use our SEE GPA Calculator to verify your exact grade status.

NEB uses a grade scale where marks convert to grade points: A (4.0) for 80-100%, A- (3.6) for 70-79%, B (3.2) for 60-69%, B- (2.8) for 50-59%, C (2.4) for 40-49%, D (1.6) for 35-39%. Our calculator automatically converts your subject marks into GPA on the 4.0 scale. Input your marks and select your stream for instant conversion.

If you score below 35% in any SEE subject, that subject receives NG (Not Graded) status and you cannot pass that exam. You must either retake the subject in the next exam or attempt a supplementary exam offered by NEB. Your overall SEE result is withheld until all subjects are cleared.

Yes, fully. Our GPA calculator is completely responsive and works seamlessly on phones, tablets, and desktops. No app download is required—just open the website in any browser. The interface automatically adapts to your screen size for optimal usability.

Class 11 Science and Management have different subject combinations and credit hour distributions. Science focuses on technical subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Math, while Management includes Economics, Accounting, and Business subjects. Both use the same 4.0 GPA scale but weight subjects differently based on NEB's curriculum. Use our Science Calculator or Management Calculator for stream-specific calculations.
